ABOUT THE ARTIST
Barbara Holden was born on December 30, 1902 in England, but was raised in Victoria, British Columbia. She moved to Penticton in 1933. In 1953, she took a two-year correspondence course in Commercial Art, and then Fine Arts at the Okanagan Summer School of the Arts. Her work, which is always painted very fluidly, is usually ink collage, sometimes combined with wax. Her works have been shown in the Okanagan Valley as well as in Vancouver in juried and group exhibitions. with several honourable mentions. An exhibition of her work with fellow artist, Muriel Ferley, was held at the Arts Centre in 1968.
Her work in our Permanent Collection was chosen for the Show Committee Permanent Collection and donated by an anonymous donor in 1968.
