The South Okanagan Immigrant & Community Services (SOICS), in partnership with the Ignite the Arts Festival, proudly invites the community to the 4th annual UnBox/Anti-Racism Happy Hour, featuring an engaging and interactive performance by Dallas Yellowfly of Raven, 3 Crows Productions.

Please join us on Sunday, March 23rd, from 1:00 – 3:00 PM at The Dream Café (67 Front Street, Penticton, B.C.) for an unforgettable afternoon with Indigenous storyteller Dallas Yellowfly as he shares his high-energy, lighthearted adaptation of the legend of How Raven Stole the Sun. Admission is free but pre-registration is requested due to event catering.

Join renowned Indigenous storyteller Dallas Yellowfly as he brings How Raven Stole the Sun to life in a lighthearted, high-energy performance using interactive theatre. Audience members will be invited onstage to play key roles, guided by Yellowfly’s improv coaching and positive humor. Through this engaging experience, participants are encouraged to add their own unique touch to this ancient legend, making each performance both fun and educational.

Throughout the performance the audience will learn some traditional names of locations on Turtle Island using Indigenous words and languages as well as the holistic values of some Indigenous Peoples. Each audience will gain an understanding of Indigenous Oral Traditions, the power of laughter in storytelling and the importance of respecting the environment.

Starting off with a workshop focused on dialogue for fiction, film and theatre, then finishing the afternoon with a workshop on publishing covering both traditional and indies options, award-winning novelist Tom Leveen is sure to have some nugget of wisdom to share with writers of any level. He’s written for Spawn with Image Comics, and fiction for the BattleTech TTRPG under Topps, Inc, and has books originally out with publishers like Penguin Random House and Simon & Schuster.
