Artist Statement: Deanna Flinn is a multidisciplinary artist living in the West End and has called Vancouver home for over 15 years. Deanna began taking photos at age 12, is an editorial and portrait photographer, and in 2010 started using her photos as inspiration for her continuous line drawings. Recently she has translated her work into murals and community-engaged art installations. (www.freeadmission.ca, @freeadmission on Instagram)
Biography: Deanna has had solo exhibitions in the USVI, Toronto, Vancouver, and Halifax. During Project Instant V6.0 for Capture 2019 at Science World, her trio of Polaroids won best creative series.
Deanna has lived and worked in the photographic industry in Vancouver for 15 years, she grew up in Halifax NS and never leaves home without a camera. Deanna has worked as an instructor in Photography at Arts Umbrella, Henrys Camera in Toronto, and is now an instructor with Skillshare.
Most recently Deanna finished a photojournalism project with 7 women who work in STEM, Science Technology Engineering and Math called In Plain Sight, it is currently on exhibit at Science World. The opening was March 4, 2020. The exhibit is currently being converted to a virtual online experience.
