Artist Statement: Doug works with home owners, and business owners in combining the colour and decor of an area, with the unique atmosphere of a trompe l'oeil window illusion, a wall mural or canvas creations. His unique vision of Photo-realism is the result. Doug has found that creating his trompe l'oel window, or other unique illusions, cause people to experience delight in being visually deceived. When the customer is captivated by a piece of his work, then Doug knows that his goal has been accomplished. The development process of a mural or commissioned painting begins with consultation(s) with the client. At that time, ideas and concepts are communicated, recommendations are made, and initial colours and designs are chosen. Doug then provides colour sketches and designs for approval, after which the work begins. Doug uses washable acrylics, latex paints and glazes on his murals so toxic fumes are not an issue, and so projects dry quickly. Commissioned paintings include acrylics and or resins. Today Doug mainly works with resins in creating beautiful cheese boards and charcuterie boards. Doug believes that the key to achieving a successful project, is to give the customer exactly what they want - large, small, commercial or residential - Doug's aim is to please... guaranteed!
