Artist Statement: My art practice is to demonstrate the importance of traditional craftsmanship intersection with contemporary fine art. I am taking endemic flora of chosen region, and extract colour to create ink paste utilized in my printmaking techniques. I am continuing to develop this process to cultivate my artistic identity as a queer Taiwanese Canadian immigrant, with ethnicity mix of pacific islander first nation.

Biography: Edward’s travel experiences working with paper and textile artisans around the world, he has developed a personal craftsmanship in his art practice. Through this process he is able to visualize images onto paper or fabric canvas. The images reflect his search as a queer Taiwanese immigrant contribution to the greater mosaic of Canadian cultural identity.

Currently, his process is to demonstrate the importance of traditional craftsmanship through contemporary art practice. He is taking endemic flora of chosen region, and extract colour to create ink paste for silkscreen and wood relief printmaking.

He is also a freelance illustrator for the film and the publishing industry.
