Artist Statement: Many experiences have taught and continue to teach me about myself, life and art. I hold a deep, sometimes weary, reverence for the privilege of continuing to create my work. The studio I have spent my lifetime working towards is my sanctuary. The goal is always to create an ongoing balanced workflow, incorporating the skills and tools acquired throughout my career.
My first love will always be the magic of seeing. Therefore I must admit and confess my love for drawing & painting. I must also acknowledge trained deep enjoyment found in hands-on technical metal-working processes like fold-forming, etching, soldering, and patina. I continue to read, write, daydream, play and learn about all forms of colour, and mark making. I grapple with the rapidly ever changing digital age. I appreciate the classical timeless subject matter of portraiture, figurative imagery, landscape, and intuitive layering.
Balancing all areas of life is a priority and a process . Doing my best to raise a small family, requires attempted maintenance of a healthy perspective. Besides seeing my loved ones, I find comfort and inspiration in music and time in nature. I Strive for equilibrium, quality and excellence with integrity and authenticity of expression.
These are my favourite things, and what I always return to.
