HOWARD BROWN

Collage, Found Objects, Performance Art

City: Enderby, British Columbia

Artist Statement: My motto is "art is where you find it". Rock, driftwood, derelict machine parts, old appliances and objects gleaned from garage sales are the materials that inspire me ultimately compose my pieces which may be assemblages on plywood, stand alone pieces or presented as "readymades". My art is influenced by surrealism and the likes of Duchamp and Cornell.

Biography: 2003 was the turning point in my artistic endeavors. The year I published my first book of poetry, became a member of the North Okanagan Artists Alternative and began exhibiting at Gallery Vertigo in Vernon. I was a studio artist at Gallery Vertigo, an artist run gallery from 2006-2015. I am a founding member Courtyard Gallery in Enderby.
