Artist Statement: I strive in my work to give permanent form to fleeting moments of grace. Favouring organic subjects, both human and avian, I prefer to shine a spotlight on the idiosyncrasies and character that distinguish an individual. The emotional impact and narrative potential of portraits continues to inspire many of my larger works. Regardless of the subject, my devotion to studying the specific character of light and its ability of light to transmute the quotidian into something remarkable remains constant.

Biography: A mixed-media artist working in Richmond, BC, Jennifer is inspired by the hunt for unexpected beauty in the everyday and the challenge of expanding the vocabulary and means with which to express it. Elected to both the Society of Canadian Artists and as a Senior Member of the Federation of Canadian Artists, she has been showing in professional galleries for 26 years and her work is collected internationally. Raised in a family of professional artists in Victoria, Jennifer’s creative capital has been refined by studies in art history, fine art and design at various institutions, including the University of Victoria, the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, and the British Columbia Institute of Technology. Her award-winning work reveals a fascination with capturing the atmosphere and character of her subject. Jennifer thrives on continual exploration of the physical and intellectual creative process, and the opportunity to share her experience through painting, photography, teaching, workshops and active support of the Arts in the community.
