Artist Statement: John Salsnek 1947-2017. Capturing nature on canvas, giving light and life to moments in time. Celebrating the fine line between realism and imagination with a dash of whimsy. John's passion was to paint every day, his mission was to create the ahhh moment with each canvas. He painted for himself, yet his biggest joy were his collectors. His strong business sense created his success, it was this philosophy that allowed him to make a career and lifestyle in our Paw Prints Gallery.

Biography: John Salsnek 1947-2017. Born in Austria, raised in Canada, living in Montreal, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver, Nelson and finally settling in Penticton. Perfect timing, a little luck and lots of talent led him to leap into a new career and leave the business world behind to paint full time in 1990. Married Stephanie Alm in 1983. John was an avid horseman and enjoyed the spectacular vistas afforded him in our stunning valley. His trusted companions were his beloved horses, loyal dogs and saddle bags filled with art supplies. He was never without a sketchbook. Today, Stephanie (Gallery & Estate Manager) still manages the remainder of John's portfolio and legacy on their 3 acre hobby farm that is home to their popular destination - Paw Prints Studio & Gallery.
