Artist Statement: Katie Rodgers developed her artistic practice, building upon experiences images and insights during travels both near and far. The paintings consist of drawings and photographs presented in abstract form to suggest atmosphere and emotions associated with specific locales. Current works include a geographical series which attempt to convey climate, habits and geography through colour, depth and detail, employing mixed media collage and vigorous application of paint.
Biography: Katie has been experimenting with acrylics for several years, independently as well as in workshops in BC and Ontario. However painting became a priority in Montreal, where she joined The Longhaul studio artists collective. Katie is an active member of the Federation of Canadian Artists and a member of North Van Arts and the West Vancouver Community Arts Council. Currently serving as Treasurer on the North Van Arts Board of Directors, Katie lives with her twin boys in North Vancouver, BC .
