Artist Statement: I am inspired by the natural world. My main way to connect to the natural world is to walk. Walking is my magical super power that allows me to travel to beautiful places. With my eyes wide open I'm ready to take in what I see and how it makes me feel. My camera captures the reality of the geography and the direction and warmth of the sunlight. My imagination enhances the story with its spectrum, intensity and shimmer of colour.
I hike, walk and watch nature. I am constantly looking with all of my senses and in the intense looking and watching I begin to learn about natural habitats and relationships. In my art I reveal what I've witnessed. The revelation is the painting. The painting is my vision of what I've seen, felt and imagined in regards to the naturescape I've walked through. I am infatuated with the beauty, power and majesty of the natural world. I hope to always feel this way and my painting is the way I express my gratitude.
