Artist Statement: I try to capture light on paper. With light, you never know what you will get. It’s unpredictable, mysterious. Light – just like life – is transformed by weather, water, people. You can’t always prepare yourself ahead for what you get. Combining digital images and natural objects with cyanotype, and mixed media I communicate impressions and understandings about my surroundings and the beings that live here with me. I focus on the everyday changing occurrences of the world, whether it’s emotions or processes, objects or living creatures. When something grabs me, I try to bring it along home with me in the form of an image or word. Lately, I am inspired by the lives of many people who are facing the pandemic and political unrest with resilience, cultivating a sense of strength and empowerment.

Biography: A photographer, Noelle specializes in the 19th century process of cyanotype and analog printing. Her images have been included in a number of exhibits. Noelle grew up in Fairbanks, Alaska, spent 20 years in North Carolina, and settled in Penticton almost 2 years ago. “One of many things I love about Penticton is the ability to create year-round with and in the abundance of the beauty surrounding us.”
