Artist Statement: I have been painting in acrylics for over ten years and prefer the ease and simplicity. What I choose to paint must always stir something within me. Whether a lake view, an old tree trunk or a sun-kissed flower, I love nature and am constantly amazed at all that I see in the world. I am grateful to be moved so much by a scene that I want to capture and interpret it and, through my painting, share the drama, the contrasts, the subtleties, the patterns, the light and the shadows.

I create because painting challenges me and gives me energy! As does daily life, painting offers choices and each choice creates different results, not wrong, just different. My art helps me to let go and become lost in time and so I also paint for my emotional well being. Being creative is a necessity for me, and even though it can be at times frustrating it is, nonetheless, deeply rewarding!

Biography: Peggie is an acrylic artist best known for her punchy use of color, bold subject matter and composition. Encouraged by her mother, influenced by her artist grandmother, and with determination, commitment and desire she has developed confidence in her abilities and continually pushes herself to improve. Combining her love of travel with paint and canvas, she shares her stories of beauty and discovery through her brush.

Peggie has been fortunate to be able to bring her passion for art to others through workshops and instruction over the years including mentoring residents at Cottonwoods Care Facility through two very successful art shows. She strives continually to build relationships within her community and is proud to have her work at the Penticton Wine and Information centre, Ruby Blues Winery and, recently, the Kelowna Tourism and Information Centre and the Osoyoos Visitor Centre. In November of 2019, Peggie opened her own Gallery in Penticton. Her first successful show included 100 mini memories of her cross Canada travel adventure. In 2020, Peggie retired from Interior Health to pursue her life-long passion of being creative fulltime!
