Artist Statement: My recent journey is to create and display a body of work celebrating our feathered friends. I have always retained a fondness for birds, and it is my intention to share this fondness with playful original compositions. To me birds represent three things.
• Joy through song,
• Freedom through flight
• Productiveness though foraging
The group will be a blend of both acrylic paintings on stretched canvas, as well as several pieces of my recent exploration of India ink & watercolour. I have been enjoying this new adventure of drawing with pen and ink, and embracing the occasional unpredictable result!
Biography: Originally from Richmond, BC, Peggy majored in Fine Arts and was recognized with a Richmond District Award. Encouraged to further her studies, she attended VCC-Langara in Vancouver, and received a diploma in the Fine Arts Program. She moved to the Okanagan in 1989, and resides in Penticton, BC.
By building and stretching her own canvases, Peggy can stray away from conventional canvas sizes and shapes. Her body of work is primarily acrylic, although she has been enjoying a recent exploration of India Ink and watercolour, embracing the unpredictability her treatment of the medium creates.
