TRACI PERKINS
Painting, Acrylic
City: Osoyoos, British Columbia
Artist Statement: I began painting using oils as a teen, from an instruction book. My first few paintings were timid and shy, with quiet colours and small details. I decided to try watercolours, then acrylic paints, which I now use exclusively. I am using five primary colours and blending to make more bright, vivid pictures, selecting photos that I hope show lots of flow, movement and life.
Biography: I have always loved art, and enjoyed all art mediums in school. I was able to take a few oil painting lessons as a teen which I thoroughly enjoyed. Along came marriage, work, children and grandchildren so with a busy life I put my painting desires on the back burner. With covid keeping us home, I decided to get into acrylic painting, watching tutorials and practicing different techniques until I decided it was time to paint from reference photos. I am still a beginning artist, thoroughly enjoying the journey now that I am retired, and hope to keep learning and improving!
